Was Austin plane crash pilot a Tea Bagger?

Posted on Sunday, February 21, 2010 in Economy, Equal Rights, Obama, Rant, Tea Baggers

We all see those 'Tea Bag' party people spewing their weak message.  "NO MORE TAXES"...sure, we all hate to pay taxes.  But, have they not been living in the US for their whole lives?  Every time I pass by a certain corner in my home town...there they are.  I'd say there is usually around 10 of them.  Holding the signs...some against taxes...other claiming Obama is pushing Socialism.  What a bunch of uninformed cry babies.  First of all...we already have some Socialism in our society.  They have been around for decades..some almost since the birth of our nation.  If these 'Tea Baggers' gave their cause a hard look...they would see it too.

-The US Postal Service.  This has been around for so long...I'm sure most of the Tea Baggers don't remember a time without it.  Sure...it's struggling financially, but everyone uses this service.  EVERYONE.  The 'Tea Baggers' even use it.  It's a government run, low-cost service for all US Citizens.  Hmmm.

-Social Security.  Wow.  This one was really controversial when it first passed.  But now, everyone expects it.  Most of the 'Tea Baggers' are even collecting it.  They even complain that the money might run out.  It's a 'tax' that everyone that works pays into...and collects upon retirement.  Hmmm...sounds a lot like a government run retirement plan to me.

-The Military.  Ok...I know for a fact that every 'Tea Bagger' expects to be defended from any outside force against the US.  Hello?  The military branches are government run agencies funded by taxes.

-Your local police department.  You mean that the 'Tea Baggers' expect not to have local police to protect them?

-Your local fire department.  Yup.  The fire department is another government run agency funded by taxes.

-Education.  (K - 12 Grade).  Ok....some people can afford to send their kids to private school...and some public schools really stink.  But we still have the option for public education that is paid for through taxes.

-The highway system.  Almost all roads in the US are public 'free' roads that are funded through taxes.  From the Interstate systems...so your own street in the front of your church and house.

-Medicare/Medicade.  I don't even have to tell you it is tax driven.

These are just a few of the services we all pay for through taxes and expect the government to supply.  Adding healthcare seems to be the next step in our evolution.  If not 'free' healthcare...at least overhaul the process to make it easier for people to get coverage.  A strong civilization has to look out for the health of it's citizens.

Now on to the Austin plane crash this past week.  The pilot fought with his family...then took his private plane and crashed it into an office building in Austin.  It is the same complex that houses an IRS office.  The note he left behind (a suicide note), said that he was mad at the government and IRS for his taxes and they ruined his life.  Hmmm.  I wonder if this pilot was part of the 'Tea Bagger' movement.  I wonder if these Tea Baggers are gong to start to do these minor acts of terrorism.  I wouldn't put it past them.  Just look at what they are doing now.  It's one thing to be a fiscal 'conservative'...but when you take extremist views and throw in religious preachings and social 'conservative' views...it's a recipe for disaster.

Maine voters vote to take away civil rights.

Posted on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in Civil Rights, Equal Rights, Gay Hater, Gay Marriage, Obama, Rant

Maine voters voted to take away civil rights yesterday by repealing the gay marriage bill lawmakers passed a few months ago.  The hateful discriminatory groups that are on a lynch mob against the gays got their sheep to follow them and vote for hate.

When will people realize that THIS IS ILLEGAL?  How can the US Government allow these votes to go on?  A majority cannot vote for the rights of a minority.  What's up with the US Constitution?  Doesn't seem to be protecting every citizen.  What a scary place this is turning into.  Think about it.  Why would people vote for something that doesn't impact them?  Do you think that slavery would have been abolished if it were put up for vote back then?

President Obama....you need to help us.  You know what is right.  Repeal DOMA and put this to bed once and for all.

Obama speaks at the Human Rights Campaign Dinner, embraces gays.

Obama attempted to do some damage control this past weekend.  The Gay & Lesbian Community has been very vocal with their worry that some of Obama's promises are going to be left on the side of the road.  Sure, the United States is going though some bad times.  Economy is on the mend, World Relations is trying to be improved...and there is the Healthcare Reform mess.  Well, the Gay & Lesbian Community feels that Obama is not acting fast enough on his promises.

President Obama promised to end the Don't Ask, Don't Tell military policy...yet nothing has been done to get rid of it.  He also expressed his disapproval of DOMA (Defensive Marriage Act).  DOMA is what is standing in the way of a Nationally recognized Gay Marriage law.

On October's Equal Rights March, President Obama took time to address the Gay & Lesbian Community at the Human Rights Campaign Dinner.  This is only the 2nd time in history that a President has spoken to a group that is marching on Washington.  While the speech was powerful...some are still worried that the time line was not defined and will get pushed out.  Obama says he is still against DOMA and the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, and will end them.  He stops short of saying when.

Take a look at the video of his speech below.  President Obama, please help us obtain the Equal Rights we as Americans deserve.

Funniest Obama inaugural headline.

Posted on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in For Fun, Obama

I found the funniest news headline capturing the flavor of some of the inaugural festivites on msnbc.com -

Stars come out for Obama's inaugural balls

Really!  That was a headline on msnbc.com earlier today.  I laughed outloud at that one.  I wonder if those were inaugural blue balls.

Obama backed gay marriage?

Posted on Saturday, January 17, 2009 in Equal Rights, Gay Marriage, Obama

We all are hoping that Obama will live up to the hype of being the most gay friendly President ever. He's been giving us (the gays) 'shout outs' quite often and has even spoken out saying that equal rights are due. However, if you recall, last year I remember seeing him state that he is against gay marriage. That comment kind of hurt. But, you have to remember that he wanted to get elected. He needed those narrow-minded Christian freaks to vote for him as well as the gay community. If you listened to his reasoning carefully, you heard that he supported a civil union that comes with ALL THE SAME RIGHTS as marriage. Sounds good to me.

Now that Obama is getting ready to get sworn in, an interesting piece of news has surfaced. Back in 1996, when Obama was running for his Illinois Senate seat, he wrote in a questionnaire to a local gay newspaper that he supported "legalizing same-sex marriages and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages". The typed letter was signed by Mr. Obama and presented to Outlines (a gay newspaper in Illinois). Sounds a lot like he may be the only President that will fight for our equal rights. That's actually good news.

With all that said....we still have to remember...we cannot just hope President Obama will move this effort forward. We need to push and push, so that we are not forgotten with all of the mess we are in. Sure the economy is in the toilet now...but I'm sure that he can multi-task.
